Salt Lake City, UT: Mark your calendar for June 6-8 and don’t miss the 2008 Utah Pride Festival, Utah’s largest event to celebrate the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) community along with their families and allies. With just six weeks left to prepare, the excitement around this year’s festival is building. Pride 2008 kicks off on Friday, June 6 with the Grand Marshal Reception, honoring Mayor Ralph Becker and members of the Salt Lake City Council as Grand Marshals. Filling out the weekend is the Dyke March, Interfaith Service, Pride Concert and Dance Party on Saturday, June 7. Utah’s second largest parade and all-day Pride Festival falls on Sunday, June 8. Full details for the celebration, themed “Come Together,” are available on the official event website at www.utahpride.org. Online ticket sales begin May 1. Community organizations, businesses, and volunteers are encouraged to participate in this celebration that attracts around 25,000 people. Festival vendor, parade and volunteer applications are still being considered online at www.utahpride.org. Fees will increase after April 30 and all applications are due May 31. All media outlets covering Utah Pride 2008: Come Together must also submit the attached application by May 31. |
