As a first generation college student, Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in business management and he is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Historic Preservation. Chris was born in Utah and grew up in rural Oklahoma, where he learned first-hand the challenges that LGBTQ+ individuals face without a diverse and vibrant queer community. In his spare time, Chris loves to travel, study architecture, rebuild classic cars, and spend time with his husband (also named Chris) and his two Corgis (Blanche and Clayton).

Chris is a business owner and has been involved in the development of start-up companies. She active in her community both politically and privately participating in fundraising activities and as an activist for LGBTQ+ and women’s issues.

 

Chris has recently returned from a humanitarian trip in Sicily to aide in the primary integration of displaced people.

 

She is a musician and has donated a significant amount of time and energy to encouraging and empowering young musicians.

Michael is passionate about community service, having served on the Utah Minority Association Board, Utah State Bar Young Lawyers Division Fit2Practice Committee, And Justice for All Community Center Continuing Legal Education Committee, and Multicultural Engagement for Utah civic engagement coalition. He currently serves as the Co-President of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League.

In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, checking out new restaurants, and catching up on his Netflix watchlist.

Michael is excited to join the Utah Pride Center Board because he recognizes and greatly appreciates the value of the Pride Center and the many services it provides. His hope is that the Pride Center will continue to be a symbol of safety and inclusion for years to come.

Gloria assists in the organizing and maintaining of 2-1-1’s database while simultaneously supporting direct service providers by helping them connect with their clients. Her current role in UWSL’s 2-1-1 Department has a focus on continuous improvement and on data visualization and use. During her 8 years with UWSL’s 2-1-1 program, she has worked in other capacities and feels fortunate to align her education and passion to ensure children and underprivileged communities have access to food, healthcare, education, and security; as well as access to meaningful community data by human services providers. Gloria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Westminster College, and a Master’s in International Affairs and Global Enterprise with emphasis in NGO’s. Her drive for community engagement and learning has led her to be part of the Utah Pride Center’s Board of Directors.
