Trash Picker Social
The Utah Pride Center and Tracy Aviary’s Jordan River Nature Center invite you to the Trash Picker Social to show some love for the Jordan River and relax with friends new and old! LGBTQIA+ folks and our allies are invited to participate in a socially-distanced litter clean-up along the Jordan River Trail, then relax at the Jordan River Nature Center while enjoying lemonade and cookies.
Freshly-sanitized trash-grabbers will be provided for the clean-up. Participants are encouraged to bring their own work gloves and reusable cups.
The grounds of the nature center and the section of the Jordan River Parkway we’ll be cleaning are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us if you would like more accessibility information!
Please read the following COVID-19 policies carefully before registering:
Participants MUST register for programs ahead of time and each person in your group must have an online ticket. This allows us to limit the size of programs to a number of people that allows easy physical distancing. If there is still space available, you may register up until the start time of the program, but you will be asked to do so on your own device. You do not need to present a ticket when attending; we will ask for your name and confirm that the number or tickets we have for your party matches the number of people attending with you.
Please assess the health of everyone in your group before attending a program. If you or anyone else planning on attending has any of the following symptoms or risk factors, we kindly ask that you refrain from attending.
• New or increased shortness of breath
• New decreased sense of smell or taste
• Sore or scratchy throat
• Muscle aches and pains
• Having been in contact or near anyone known to be infected with COVID-19 in the past two weeks
When entering and exiting the Jordan River Nature Center, please leave at least six feet of space between you and other participants.
Bathroom doors will be propped open to allow participants to wash their hands after arrival. Hand sanitizer will also be provided during the program.
Tracy Aviary staff will provide suggestions of how to maintain six feet between individuals and/or family groups, for example, by indicating appropriately spaced boulders/benches on which participants may sit.
In accordance with Salt Lake County guidelines, masks are required during programs (except for children under the age of 2). This applies throughout the program, except when participants are remaining seated with at least six feet between households. Staff will wear face coverings under the same conditions.
