Art Garden Application Details


“Our History, Our Stories, Our Communities”

Purpose: Submissions are being accepted for OUTDOOR visual art pieces that are two & three dimensional.  Artwork that highlights the talents of Utah’s LGBTQ+ artist and/or tells “Our History, Our Stories or Our Communities” of LGBTQ+ individuals living in Utah is preferred.

Location: Washington Square, 450 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah
This first time exhibit is estimated to be viewed by 15,000+ attendees.


June 1st or 2nd – Delivered to Washington Square
June 3rd thru 7th – On display in the Pride Story Garden (and possibly longer)
June 8th or later – Picked up from Washington Square (only later if show extended)

Submission Fee: $0.00

Compensation: Items are on loan only to the Utah Pride Center.  
No purchase, rental or compensation is offered or implied.
Each artist will be provided with two complimentary adult tickets to the Story Garden.

Security: Items will be enclosed in a fenced area with nightly security provided.

The Utah Pride Center does not take responsibility or any damage, natural or man-made that may occur while on loan.

Recognition: The creative artist will be acknowledged with contact information for those members of the public seeking additional information or request for purchase.


60% of items will be outside in a garden setting, not covered from the elements.
40% of items will be outside under an open canopy, mostly, but not fully covered from the elements.


Outdoor items will be installed in a garden setting on the grass, or may be installed upon a pedestal or riser if provided by the artist.

Outdoor items under a canopy may be installed hanging from a cable,or may be installed upon a pedestal or riser if provided by the artist.

Connection: The Utah Pride Festival is meant to highlight the contributions of members of Utah’s LGBTQ+ community.  Artist and art with strong connections/involvement with this community are being sought with the hope of highlighting their talents.

Deadline: May 14th, 2021

Process: All submissions will be reviewed by the Pride Planning Committing and jury selection completed. Notification and confirmation due no later than May 18th.
