Title: Development Assistant

Department: Resource Development

Reports to: Senior Development Officer

Salary Range/Benefits: $31,000- 35,500 annually, DOE. Bonus potential, paid leave, medical and other insurance benefits, 401(k), discounted childcare

Hours: 40 hours/week; Monday – Friday. Some off-site, weekend, and evening work required

Status: Salary non-exempt

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake serves kids at 7 locations in Salt Lake, Tooele and Carbon County. Job Summary:
The Development Assistant works as part of the Resource Development team to execute elements of the annual fundraising and communications plans, process gifts, manage donor database systems, assist with donor cultivation, and provide support for organizational events.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Gift Processing and Donor Stewardship

  • Work with Development and Accounting teams to process all types of donations and ensure accurate recording and acknowledgement of gifts within set timeline and standards
  • Prepare and assist with donor recognition materials as outlined in stewardship plan including notes, cards, newsletters, plaques, etc.
  • Assist with Annual Appeal fundraising efforts

Database Management

  • • Maintain data entry standards and perform cleanup on an on-going basis
    • Maintain consistency of donor information and accuracy of database information
    • Assist with reports, mailing lists, and query generation to support campaigns and projects
    • Process donor information, generate and send all relevant correspondence, thank you letters, etc.
    • Coordinate printing of mailing labels and donor lists for appeal letters and other correspondence
    • Maintain hardcopy records of all donations as applicable
    • Responsible for generating and sending end of year tax letters
    • Provide excellent customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our donors

Special Events

  • Serve as point person for guest stewardship at all fundraising and cultivation events including RSVP,
    registration and general support
  • Follow up for item solicitation, tracking and inventory for silent auction
  • Assist in planning and executing logistics for marketing and PR events, including booths at festivals or community events as well as Boys & Girls Club week and other Club sponsored events

Grant Management

  • Assist with managing calendar of due dates for grant applications and reports
  • Maintain hard copy files of grant-related correspondence

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:

  • Management of multiple priorities and attentive to details
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, team-oriented and flexible
  • Possess thorough understanding of computer programs and proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 including
    MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with the public, speaking on the phone, making cold calls, and working with vendors, donors, and community partners

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • Experience with donor database software such as Donor Perfect, Raiser’s Edge or similar is essential
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to pass Drug Screening
  • Be adaptable and flexible to change
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Job Summary:
The STEM Coordinator’s primary concern is the improvement of learning opportunities for members attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake. The STEM Coordinator is an instructional leader who works in close collaboration with the Club and Program Directors to provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) based programming through small group activities and use of BGCA curriculum. Their role is to support program instructional/enrichment goals by ensuring activities are structured, age-appropriate, and contribute to priority outcomes.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Gift Processing and Donor Stewardship

  • Maintain and develop consistent and comprehensive curriculum in STEM education.
  • Plan, promote and execute technology/STEM activities during afterschool and summer hours.
  • Maintain and use Club technology resources on a daily basis.
  • Participate in BGCA national programs and trainings (MyFuture, Career Launch, Digital Arts Festival, FastForWord, coding, etc.) as necessary.
  • Responsible for proper record keeping and reporting.
  • Develop STEM-related science themes/camps.
  • Create engaging STEM-focused local programs with the ability to multi-task several projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:

  • Associate’s Degree in a STEM, IT, or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training.
  • Experience in STEM educational programming, experience with record keeping, surveys and budgeting STEM activities.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with youth and some classroom management experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to pass Drug Screening
  • Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Clubs can arrange for this)
  • Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet
  • Be adaptable and flexible to change
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
