2023 Summer Camps

Do you have a passion for cats and want to learn more? Come join us at the Utah Pride Center for Kitty Kamp! This immersive and creative camp will help you learn more about your kitty friends, making you a more informed and better caretaker. During the week you will get the opportunity to do research, volunteer at the Humane Society, sew cat toys, and have a kitty party! It’s going to be a purrfect experience you will not want to miss.

Open to ages 10-14

A safe and supportive space for teens who identify as transgender or gender non-conforming to come together, learn, and have fun! It provides an opportunity for teens to connect with others who may be going through similar experiences, and to learn about their own gender identity in an affirming and accepting environment. This camp will have workshops about us and who we are as individuals, Voice Coaches, Art workshops, and Thrifting at a secondhand store! The overall goal of the camp is to empower young people to be their authentic selves and to promote acceptance and understanding of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in the broader community, so let us TRANScend together!

Open to ages 14-18

At our camp, kids will learn about the different branches of witchcraft, such as Wicca, Druidry, Shamanism, and more. They will also explore the elements, the cycles of the moon and the seasons with Astrology, and the magical properties of herbs, crystals, and other natural elements. Our camp is open to children of all backgrounds and beliefs, and we welcome diversity in all its forms. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where kids can explore their spirituality, develop their creativity and self-expression, and gain confidence and resilience. Join us for a magical and unforgettable adventure into the world of Witchery!

Are you 14-18 years old and interested in creative writing? The Utah Pride Center has the perfect summer camp for you! Come join us for a week filled with world development, character building, and a lot of Queer Mad Libs. The camp will also feature two workshops from SLCC Community Writing Center; Pet Memoirs and Zine Making! You will not want to miss this week.

Open to ages 14-18 (if 18 must still be in High School)

In the Art of Nature Camp, we will explore the natural world through our art as we try out different artistic styles and techniques like botanical drawing, flower pressing, resin art, printmaking, and natural plant-based dyes. We will also be visiting Red Butte Garden and our Rainbow Roots Garden to draw inspiration and materials for our pieces. This unique experience will give young artists the opportunity to dive deeper into nature as a muse in the middle of SLC’s urban environment.

Have you ever dreamed of creating your own world where you could go on adventures of every kind, from medieval fantasy to sci-fi? If so, you will love the Dungeons & Dragons Camp happening at the Utah Pride Center. This story building, role-play-based camp is great for story writers, theatre fanatics, and fantasy lovers. Join us as we explore the basics to D&D game play including a western themed mini campaign. Learn how to create characters, develop backstories, and fit them into a world of your creation. All are welcome to this chance to express yourself through the amazing game of Dungeons and Dragons!

Clothes worth wearing are worth repairing. We all have well-loved pieces that are full of holes and covered in stains. With a few basic skills, we can take clothes we might have thrown away and turn them into personalized pieces of art we just can stop wearing. In our One Queen’s Trash Camp, we will be learning the basics of how to repair our well-loved clothes and personalize them to let our individual senses of style shine. This camp will set you up to keep exploring your style in a sustainable and resourceful way. We will learn to sew, patch, dye, and print on our old clothes while learning about what we each love to wear and how to let our personalities speak through our clothes.

Being yourself is an art form of its own. Join us at the Utah Pride Center for The Art of Self-Expression summer camp! During this camp, you'll become an explorer of your own inner world and learn how to bring the gold within you to the surface. From painting and songwriting to a collaborative project where everyone's light gets to shine, you will spend the week uncovering the full-color expression of who YOU are! Don't miss this unique opportunity to find out how to turn your own life into an art project!

Do you have something you’re passionate about, but don’t know who to tell? Could you talk for hours about the same subject? Come join us for this week-long deep dive into your Special Interest! Each camper will bring a topic to the camp that they just can’t stop thinking about (could be a book, a TV character, a stuffed animal, something they learned at another UPC Summer Camp, etc.) and teach others about why they have a passion for the topic. Campers will research their topic and create posters, a short film, and a mini book on their Special Interest. Join the UPC in an exploration of what YOU are really passionate about!
