SUMMARY:Painting to Release Your Inner Artist- Cosmic Pine
DESCRIPTION:No experience? No problem! This painting class is all about self-expression\, having fun and releasing your inner artist! LGBTQIA2S Affirming\n\n\n**July 28th we will be painting this Cosmic Pine!** \nRelease Your Inner Artist with The Paint Mixer \nWednesday 6:00pm-8:00pm\, $38 all materials costs included. In-person at The Paint Mixer in SLC! \nEmail wellness@utahpridecenter.org for questions\, sliding scale options\, and/or specific ability level modification requests (occupational therapist is on staff). \nRelease your inner artist and get those creative juices flowing as you paint a step-by-step instructed painting. No experience? No problem! Plenty of experience? Feel free to go “off road” and do your own interpretation. This is a judgement free zone where you can tune out that high school teacher that told you not to quit your day job\, or rediscover that budding artist you were in high school before you got a day job. There’s a reason art therapy is a thing. Find that inner artist again and re-discover the joy of creating. \nWe’ll listen to music while we paint. You are welcome to supply your own snacks and beverage. \nMaterials \nClass supply kits will be available for pick-up at the Utah Pride Center the week of your class. If you’d like your kit shipped to you\, please register at least 7 days ahead of class date. For questions\, email wellness@utahpridecenter.org. \nOther than the painting kits\, please have a cup half filled with water to rinse out your brushes and clothes you don’t mind getting paint on. \nFinally\, make sure to grab your favorite beverages and snacks and make it a party! \nAbout the Instructor \nBrenda Hattingh (she/her) has been working for the Paint Mixer for 8 years. SUMMARY:Vinyasa Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Our new Vinyasa Yoga class is just what you need to get in touch with your power! LGBTQIA+ affirming.\n\n\nVinyasa Yoga Weekly on Sundays 9:00am to 10:15am\n \nVinyasa is a high-energy steady rhythmic flow of connected yoga postures linked together on inhalations and exhalations. We will warm up with some sun salutations\, move through series of movements once we get our hearts pumping\, and end with a soothing deep rest. As we practice power poses as a community\, we gain confidence and become empowered in our fight against systemic injustice.\n \n \nWho is this class for?\n \nEveryone\, especially those who are looking to establish a regular yoga practice! This is a beginner friendly class. You are encouraged to listen to your body and take breaks as needed. Expert yogis\, you are welcome to take on extra chaturangas.\n \n \nWhat will we learn?\n \nWe will cover foundational yoga poses\, linking them to your breath. We will also discuss the roots of yoga\, including the yamas and niyamas.\n \n \nWhat will we need?\n \nClothes you can sweat in. Yoga mat is helpful\, but it essentially is just a piece of plastic. Yoga blocks are helpful\, and can be replaced with books/water bottles. Yoga strap is optional\, and can be replaced with a belt/kitchen towel. Water to replenish your body not optional!\n \n \nAbout the instructor:\n \nI’m Karen Tao (she/her). I moved to Utah from Asia in 2000 and found yoga around 2010. It wasn’t until 2020 for me to realize what a lifeline yoga has been for me\, when some days all I could do was breathe and be grateful for each breath. I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training at our local studio Salt Lake Power Yoga where I also teach at. LGBTQIA2S+ affirming.\n\n\nMeditation 101 by Emma Zevallos (she/her) \nOne Saturday a month\, 11:00am to 12:30pm MT\, $14 per class Please e-mail wellness@utahpridecenter.org for sliding scale options\, discounts\, and any specific ability modifications (occupational therapist on staff).  \nAugust 21st\, September 18th \n21 de agosto\, 18 de septiembre \nEstá clase está abierta para todxs\, está clase de meditación te ayudará a conectarte con tu yo superior y elevar tu vibración así como la vibración colectiva\, para que no te distraigan los pensamientos\, emociones o sensaciones que surgen en el momento. Te ayudará a estar presente en el aquí y ahora y en completa observación del presente para que puedas entrar en estados superiores de conciencia. \nEl viaje es un camino de autoconocimiento personal\, que recorre con el deseo de descubrirse mejor a sí mismo. Durante los próximos 6 meses\, navegaremos juntos en este viaje de autodescubrimiento y aprenderemos como grupo. Esta estructura de clase es la siguiente: la primera hora se llevará a cabo una meditación durante unos 40 minutos y la segunda hora estarás aprendiendo sobre herramientas a implementar en tu vida diaria para elevar tu vibración tales como: cómo crear un altar\, cómo para limpiarte y el espacio energéticamente\, cómo equilibrar tus chakras a través de la comida\, cómo conectarte a la naturaleza\, cómo canalizar la energía de tu fuerza vital a través de tus manos para la autocuración\, cómo preparar un baño espiritual\, etc. \nQue traer \nNecesitará una esterilla de yoga o un cojín o almohada de meditación\, necesitará un diario y un bolígrafo. Incienso\, salvia o Palo Santo si tiene algo para tener listo antes de la meditación o si tiene un cristal o piedra que le gustaría sostener durante la meditación que también se recomienda pero no es obligatorio. \nThis meditation class will help you to connect to your higher self and raise your vibration as well as the collective vibration\, so that you are not distracted by the thoughts\, emotions\, or sensations that arise at the moment. It will help you to be present in the here and now and in complete observation of the present so that you can enter higher states of consciousness.  \nThe journey is a path of personal self-knowledge\, which you walk with the desire to discover yourself better. Over the next 6 months\, we will navigate this self-discovery journey together and learn as a group. This class structure is the following: the first-hour a meditation will be held for about 40 minutes and the second hour you will be learning about tools to implement in your daily life to raise your vibration such as: how to create an altar\, how to clean yourself and space energetically\, how to balance your chakras through food\, how to ground yourself in nature\, how to channel your life force energy through your hands for self-healing\, how to prepare a spiritual bath\, etc. \nWhat to Bring \nYou will need a yoga mat or meditation cushion or pillow\, you will need a journal and a pen. Incense\, sage\, or Palo Santo if you have some to have ready prior to the meditation or if you have a crystal or rock that you would like to hold during the meditation that is recommended as well but not required.  \nFor More Information: \nwww.onayareikiwellnessandmeditationcenter.com \nwww.instagram.com/onayareikiandmeditation/?hl=en \nAbout the Instructor \nEmma Zevallos is the Assistant Director at UCASA  she started in this role in November 2020. Emma started at the Rape Recovery Center as a volunteer in May of 2016\, shortly after she was hired on as a staff on the Hospital Response Team where she advocated for survivors of sexual assault across different victim services systems.  \nThrough her hands-on experience as a crisis counselor on the Hospital Response Team\, she brought a wealth of knowledge to the prevention side of sexual assault advocacy and was promoted to  Primary Prevention Educator where she interacted with the community to help educate and promote healthy relationships and overall knowledge about sexual violence. \n After spending time in the prevention field\, she was called to work more closely with survivors and accepted a position as Client Liaison Advocate where she acted as a bridge for survivors and worked to connect them to resources and referrals based on their individual needs. Then\, she was promoted to the  Client Coordinator position for the Rape Recovery Center and worked at overseeing the day-to-day operation of the 24-hour crisis line and is leadership for the Hospital Response Team\, with an emphasis on client care and closing gaps in service.  \nEmma’s healing journey started in 2016 and she became a Reiki Master in 2016 and a Meditation Teacher in 2020. Emma interconnects the practice of self-care\, radical acceptance\, and self-love into her healing practices.  Emma’s life purpose is to teach and inspire others to find their healing during this massive awakening that we are currently experiencing today in the earth. By helping to raise and teach others to how to raise and sustain the vibrational levels and to be able to transcend as a collective as humanity.
