March: A Month with Lots to Do!With February wrapped up, we’re excited to spring into March where warmth and plenty of community events await us! Last month we saw history made– the very first Two-Spirit Pow Wow in the state of Utah! Over 400 people gathered to bear witness and participate in this momentous occasion, and we thank everyone who came out to show their support. We also started our Friday Veterans groups, support groups for LGBTQIA+ veterans, which will be continuing through 2020, and launched our new Membership Program for donors where we’re able to give perks and prizes back as a way of saying thank you! Moving into March we have much to look forward to! We’ll be seeing the return of the Utah Pride Group Night with the Utah Jazz, where we come together to show support for Utah organizations that serve the queer community and fill the stadium with pride colors. Last year’s smash hit, the Queer Food Festival, is coming back for a second year running on March 28th, where drinks and delicious food will be served by queer food providers, and entertainment comes in the form of a delectable drag show and DJ. For those who have fond memories of nights at the Sun Tavern, you’ll have a chance to revisit them and make new memories as SAGE Utah pays tribute to a Utah classic with The Sun Revisited, a social event paying tribute to that beloved piece of Utah LGBTQIA+ history, on March 21st at Ember SLC. Be sure to check out the contents of this newsletter for details on those exciting events and so much more! |
